Good times....

Hmm...as the time for my departure from Pune draws closer, I look to spend as much time as various people as possible...and they with me.
This has led to a couple of nice evenings...

What fuels me?
My friends fuel me!

I've been meaning to get this up for a while now but here it finally is.
Last week we had a pizza party.
The main idea was that the fridge needed emptying... with a plethora of cheese in the fridge, I decided the only way to get rid of it and have fun in the process was PIZZA!!

So I gathered some cronies together, picked a weeknight and sent them shopping for the rest of the ingredients.
After all, I was providing venue, electricity, entertainment, culinary expertise (and eventually alcohol)!
And we had a blast! People stood up, got to work...I made the first few pizzas but they helped with the chopping and grating... I just put them together and baked...
The best part of the night was catching up with an old classmate. We'd been wanting to meet up for quite a while. So, as I was waiting for the boys to show up, she came online and I told her that she two weeks to find time to meet me (she works) - she said she was free right away, so I said come over for pizza. She said OK! Give me twenty!
I absolutely love it when something spontaneous like this takes place... no fuss, no trouble, just fun.
By the time the friend arrived, the boys had come. We gave them a shopping list and sent them off. Whilst they shopped, the friend and I caught up (gossiped?) and I cleared some room in the kitchen.
When the boys came back from shopping, they'd gotten themselves some Red Bull... so I asked if they wanted any vodka with it...
And then things got interesting!

So out came the vodka - pepper and regular.
We decided to take shots - especially with the pepper vodka

Now here's a tried and tested formula that everyone knows works but I had to be silly, eh?
Everyone knows (or ought to know) that drinking alcohol on an empty stomach is a baaaad idea!
I was already working on a rum and coke... I'd not had anything to eat since lunch and I'd been busy preparing everyone else's pizza...the girls had to leave early and one of the guys went to escort them downstairs. That's when BS and I thought of downing shots of vodka... pepper vodka went down hard with BS... eyes and nose streaming with tears... Unfortunately, I had not the foresight to my camera ready and he refused to take another one... so I asked Shaggy to keep the camera ready as I tried one... but the results were not spectacular... I'm used to heat and spice... so while the vodka was hot... didn't make me cry.
BS was working on his Bull and Vodka and there was very little regular vodka left... so I decided to polish that off as well...

Half a minute later...my head was floating...ladies and gentlemen, I was tipsy!
I've always maintained (and still do) that I'm not interested in finding out what sort of drunk I am (whether funny, quiet or loud) but perhaps we were going to find out today...
AD had always wanted to find it out and it seemed to be his lucky day.
Or perhaps lucky day for me... by the time I realised I'd started to feel the buzz, my own pizza was ready and food in the stomach did the trick!

But for your perusal...here's me as Sir Tipsalot...

Actually, I don't tip at all... but that's another story...
I swear I wasn't as goofy as I look there; the flash dazed me!! ... but I'm you're all rolling your eyes and going: Yeah Right! - but I swear, it's true!!

Finally, AD came over but while I was voluble (aren't I always that way now?), I wasn't out of it... could walk in a decently straight line and was quite amused to realise that I was tipsy. Other than that...nothing happened...which disappointed AD and he said I needed more Rum!
Haha but pizza did its job!!

The evening was capped off with Pathetic Waste and Tygrr joining us.
Waste got along some beer, there was more shot taking (and there are videos but I think for those, I need permission to put up...a small slide show shall follow however... but it's not nearly as amusing/embarrassing as the video...) and we finally finished the day by drinking and driving... well ... driving mario karts!

People went home happy, I went to bad happy and over all... it was a good evening!!

-x-

Today was a good day as well...
Had a quiz in the morning - inter school - the kids did pretty terribly and as if to underline that...one of the teams won a prize for "Best Team Name" - they'd called themselves 'Team Doubtful' - it seemed to amuse the QM but turned out to be too true for words!
These guys really need to watch more TV and read more stuff!!

Later...lunch at Auntie's... my dad's cousin... led to good food, good conversation... (both of us love to talk) and an afternoon nap.

In the evening, it was a real treat...
I'd been invited by a teacher over to her house for high tea and snacks.
Ever since another one invited a bunch of us over to her house after school ended, I've always liked this idea and it's really nice to see a different aspect of your teachers... where they live, how they live.. their personas outside of the classroom...
With this particular lady, I was honoured... the first to ever be asked to visit... she generally prefers to maintain a healthy distance...
But we had a lot of fun talking and good conversation. It was quite refreshing to be able to put forth certain opinions and have them listened to... even if they weren't exactly PC (more like hippie at times) and a healthy disagreement at times.
It's pretty refreshing to have your own teacher interact with you as an adult and it also helps to listen to yourself say a few things perhaps... things you might not otherwise say and it helps you reflect on it...
I'm pretty sure I amused her and I've been able to learn a lot from her and others in the school teaching experience and the amount I've grown as a person is fantastic and it spills over in other aspects of your life...which has been pointed out to me in a pretty positive way by many different, unconnected people.
(OK that was a bad sentence but I get its meaning... it's OK if it makes your eyes hurt)

Good conversation, good food, good company and a nice bike ride in a slight drizzle later, I came home...
I'm looking at finding contacts in Tallahassee as I move there and gather info regarding accommodation and I talked to a guy who's doing a Ph.D in Humanities and culture at FSU.
We discussed our countries, cultures, education systems and the such and both ended up calling the other crazy for having a Humanities focus, wondering where the money would come from...

And... since I sort of have gotten back into the blogging groove... I go to bed now... feeling happy... with more ideas fermenting... but they shall come up later...
