Well, I lied... or maybe not...
This post comes from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Waiting for a connection to TLH.
The tiredness is setting in now... we just calculated that we've been on the road for 27 odd hours now
At least another 5 to go.
Ho ho ho!
First impressions:
Slight anti climax at airport - the only thing I was asked was if this was my first time studying in the USA...
The Customs guy only got a currency declaration signed...
The Immigration guy actually asked dad more things than he asked me!
Second - Culture shock?
Previously, whenever I visited, it was always a social visit/tourism.
You see these people in their environment, doing whatever it is they do and you know that you're only passing through.
Now... the realisation that many of those things will be part of your life... as you come here on more serious business in what *is* a foreign land... is a little shocking.
Still not ga-ga yet.
Wondering how it will be once I finally am by myself...
Dad has been doing ALL the work until now...
I think it's going to be the way you feel when you jump into a pool of cold water - breathless but then... quite alive!
Let's see.
For now, I'm just reminding myself to breathe...
